Pay Rates

*Spirit is actively in negotiations which means their pay scale does not increase past the 2020 rates, as of now. 

Minimum Guarantee 

Lineholder and Reserve - 72 hours

​

Overtime Pay

Any credit over 85 hours will be paid at 1.5 times the flight attendant's pay rate. Sick time and credit increases due to trip trading with other flight attendants is not included in this calculation.

​

Language Pay

Paid $2.00 per hour extra for each flight in which the flight attendant uses his or her language skills 

​

International Pay

Paid a 5% override for the credit time on qualifying flights

​

Deadhead Pay

Paid 100% of scheduled or actual deadhead time, whichever is greater

​

Holiday Pay

The flight attendant will receive $50.00 extra if they work on any of the following days: New Years Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

​

Per Diem (as of 5/5/2016)

Domestic and International - $2.20 per hour away from base

*This value may go up annually based on the Consumer Price Index rate

Vacation Pay and Accrual

Vacation Pay and Credit

Each vacation day is paid at a minimum of 4 hours per day. A standard week of vacation will pay 28 hours. If more than 28 hours of flying is dropped, the flight attendant will be paid for all credit dropped.

Vacation Bidding

Vacation is bid in 28 hour blocks (7 days each). In the event that a flight attendant does not have enough hours left to make a 28 hour block, those remaining hours will be considered floating vacation. The flight attendant may use those hours throughout the year to drop smaller trips equal to the value of their remaining vacation bank. 

​

Sick Pay and Accrual

Sick Accrual

Flight attendants will accrue 4 hours of sick time for each full month of active service. The bank will max out at 400 hours.

Sick Pay and Usage

Flight attendants sick hours will cover their missed flying or reserve at 100%, assuming they have enough sick time to cover the absence. New flight attendants will little to no sick time will be allowed to borrow up to 24 hours of sick time to pay for lost flying 

​

A line holder's sick bank will be charged the value of the trip/portion of trip he or she missed

​

A reserve flight attendant's sick bank will be charged 4:00 for each reserve day missed.

Hours of Service

Minimum Days Off

Line holders are required to have 13 days off free from duty in base. The flight attendant may choose to go below 13 days off via trip pick up or via trades.

Reserves must have a minimum of 12 days off free from duty in base. 8 of these days shall be immovable, built in 2 blocks of 4 days off each. 4 of these days will be designated by the flight attendant, and 4 of these days will be designated by the company. The remaining 4 days off are considered movable, and may be moved by the company if needed.

Retirement/401k

401k Contributions

The flight attendant is able to participate in the company's 401k after the first 60 days of employment. The company will match 100% of the flight attendant's contribution up to 6%. Company contributions will require a vesting period based on company policy.

Parking

Spirit will provide the flight attendant with paid parking in their domicile. Instead, for those who choose to commute, Spirit will reimburse the flight attendant for parking at an alternate location up to the amount which would have been paid at their domicile.
 

Flight Benefits

Non-Revenue Travel

Spirit flight attendants are given non-revenue flight benefits on all Spirit flights. Standby travel is normally free, however, some international destinations will charge taxes and fees. These benefits extend to parents and well as spouses. A travel companion may be chosen in lieu of a spouse.

Jumpseating

Spirit flight attendants are eligible to jumpseat on many different carriers, which allows them to utilize these airlines to commute or travel domestically. Flight attendants are unable to utilize other airline jumpseats for international travel purposes.

Union Information

Union

Association of Flight Attendants (AFA)

Flight attendants are not required to maintain membership with AFA. Flight attendants wishing to become a member of the union will be required to sign-up within 60 days of their date of hire. Regardless of union status, flight attendants will be required to pay the standard union dues charge.

Contract

The current contract is effective May 5th, 2016 to May 4th, 2021. The contract is almost 8 years old, and has been amendable for over 2 years. AFA is still in negotiations with Spirit. The pending merger with JetBlue may delay this further. 

​

Probation

Flight attendants shall be on probation during their first 180 days of active service with the company
